Gwent Under 14s v Gloucestershire under 14s

A hot day at Monmouth Golf Club saw the Gwent Under 14 team play a strong Gloucestershire team in the first fixture at this level. A close morning foursomes match saw the visitors lead 3 to 2 with a win for Robert Hardean and David Wham and Julian Sansom and David Morgan, and James Flower and Andrew Harris taking a half for Gwent.
The afternoon singles saw Gloucestershire take the edge by winning 6 to 4 although four of the matches were settled on the last hole.
Wins for captain, Daniel Gizzi, Andrew Harris and Luke Ralph and halves for Julian Sansom and David Morgan gave Gwent some hope, but the final score saw a 9 to 6 advantage to the visitors.
The day was concluded with a meal and thank-you speeches from both sets of players and officials, and a special thank you must go to Monmouth Golf Club for staging this event and to Steve Jordan (Junior Organiser, Monmouth) for help in organising this match.
